Getting Into TEMASCHO

Admission Through CSSPS

Tema Senior High School does not accept direct applications. Like all public Senior High Schools in Ghana, admission into TEMASCHO is administered centrally by the Ghana Education Service through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). BECE candidates select TEMASCHO as one of their preferred schools, and placement is determined by CSSPS based on academic performance, programme demand, and preference.

This page explains how the placement process works and what to do once your ward has been placed at TEMASCHO.

How It Works

How CSSPS Placement Works

Placement into TEMASCHO follows the official Ghana Education Service process — the school has no role in selecting or admitting individual candidates ahead of CSSPS.

Step 1
Sit the BECE

Complete Junior High School and sit the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Step 2
Select TEMASCHO After Results Are Released

Once BECE results are published, candidates are given a window to choose their preferred Senior High Schools on the CSSPS portal — TEMASCHO can be selected as a first or subsequent choice. Selection is now made after results are known, so candidates can choose based on their actual aggregate.

Step 3
CSSPS Places the Candidate

Placement is based on the aggregate of six subjects (four core subjects plus two best electives), the competitiveness of TEMASCHO, programme availability, and the candidate's preferences. Placement may be automatic or self-placement — there is no fixed cut-off aggregate.

Step 4
Check Placement Online

Candidates check their placement at cssps.gov.gh/hub using their BECE index number, examination year, and date of birth, then print the official placement slip. Checking is free.

Step 5
Report to TEMASCHO for Registration

Candidates placed at TEMASCHO report to the school on the registration date announced by the Ghana Education Service, with their placement slip and the required documents below.
